Day 3 - Atiglione to Chiusi 84 k 933m - Total for ride 212 k 2,779m
The scenery was lovely valleys and hills and again for some of the ride we were following the Tiber River and tracked alongside the railway and motorway however never having to travel on it.
Because we are not aiming for the 100 km per day it means we can take longer with our tea/coffee/gelatto and lunch stops and with the low cost of food they are very enjoyable.
Things that I see along the journey that have me wondering is the number of un-lived in houses and unused industrial sites where whatever they were producing is no longer viable and there is not another owner/tenant for the site.
Our navigation has been faultless right through to where our B&B should be for the night. However both yesterday and today didn't quite end up where our actual accommodation was. Yesterday it was just around the corner from the Bar we stopped at to regroup which wasn't too bad but then today's was a bit further up the hill which wasn't the best way to have to finish the ride. We will have to cross reference the address next time however that is easier said than done as the addresses here do not follow the same format that we are used to,
I'm sitting here writing this in an apartment that must be 300 plus years old. It is several stories high and the exposed beams in our room are actual tree trunks of about 400 x 400 mm with a span of 6 metres and all the joists sitting across the beams are of different dimensions ! The amazing thing is it all works, still.
I have popped in some pictures of our apartment from yesterday which was very spacious.
Now it's time to wander off to the village for some dinner
