Travel Day 8
Another of our "touristy" days.
We really had enjoyed our ride up the Mur valley and over the Obertauren Pass so much so that we decided to go back down it again just so that we could take it all in once more. This time though we used our bikes to ride the 5 km to Radstadt and then took the bus over the Pass to Tamsweg where we caught the narrow gauge (2'6") train to Ummarkt. The train line is only 76 km in length and the trains which date back to 1983 run every two hours.
This have us another look at the valley from a different perspective and instead of us cyclists waving at the people on the train it was now the other way around.
On our way up and over the Pass the bus got caught up in about ten tractors all out on a tractor trek which slowed the whole process down considerably and was only made worse by the fact that the bus had to stop to let people off or on at which time the slow of tractors trundled on past only to have the bus stick in behind them once again.
As we only had six minutes between the bus arriving and the train leaving we were thinking our plan for a day out was gong to go West. Eventually we got past the tractors and the bus driver made up the time so much so that we arrived with a couple of minutes to spare.
All in all a nice day out.
When we got back I have the bike a service went and did the shopping for our dinner and completed this blog.
